Goods train derails near railway station



The train was coming from Naini junction and the derailment affected movement of trains towards platform number 1, 2, 3 and 4 of Allahabad railway junction. The derailment took place at about 6:30 am.

This is another incident of train derailment as Allahabad-Jhansi passenger derailed in Allahabad yard on June 25.

Railways staff was rushed to the spot and arrangements were made to get the wagon back on the track.

According to reports, a wagon of a goods train laden with coal derailed near Niranjan bridge while it was entering line number 4 of the Allahabad railway junction.

Two wheels of the wagon of the goods train derailed as the axle of the wheel broke resulting in derailment. The wagon was the eleventh from the back of the goods train.

Railway staff comprising department of engineering, safety, mechanical, electrical and others rushed to the site for inspection.

The front portion of the goods train was cut and taken towards Subedarganj. Railway staff was able to get the wagon back on track by 11:00 am.

Due to the derailment, several trains got late. The movement of the trains arriving on platform number 1,2, 3 and 4 was also affected and they were diverted to other platforms.

The 12817 Hatia-Anand Vihar Jharkhand Express arrived on platform number 6, 12401 Magadh Express and 13007 Toofan Express were taken to platform number 6.

Moreover, 14369 Triveni Express was delayed by around five and a half hours while 12150 Patna-Pune Express was late by four hours and 30 minutes as it reached Allahabad junction at 10:00 am. Whereas, 13007 Toofan Express was delayed by around four hours as it reached Allahabad junction around 9:40 am.

Talking to TOI, chief public relations officer of North Central Railway said, "The cause of the derailment is clear as the axle of the wagon was broken.

The mechanical department is gathering all the details and all information will be send to RDSO (Research, Design and Standards Organization) at Lucknow. The latter will conduct ultrasonic and other tests and look into the reasons of breaking of the axle and necessary action will then be taken."
