Probe into Jagiroad train mishap begins

 GUWAHATI, April 18 – The Commissioner of Railway Safety has started enquiry find the cause of the accident of BG Express which derailed near Jagiroad on April 16 and caused injuries to more than 50 passengers.

Official sources said that the Commissioner of Railway Safety, Northeast Frontier Circle, Kolkata, held two rounds of hearings at Jagiroad and Guwahati yesterday and today, respectively.
“All evidence is being gathered. The CRS interviewed staff of the BG Express and other concerned railway personnel and others,” said an official at the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) headquarters here.
Asked about the likely date by which the report of the CRS is expected to be ready, the official said, “We expect everything to be done within 10 days or so.”
Meanwhile, normal service has resumed since yesterday at the stretch between Ajuri and Jagiroad where the mishap took place.
The derailment of the Dimapur-Kamakhya BG Express had resulted in damage to around 200 metre of railway track and severely disrupted services to upper Assam and Barak Valley.
